The Cabin begins

OK time to start work on the cabin.
1st to find a few nice tall straight trees.
Then to cut to size.. needed Ethans muscles as I was useless with an Axe and the Chainsaw wouldn't work... again..

Danyon Helped also..

Then to strip the bark off the trees..

Of course I used the postie to get up and down the hill.

Ethan then put my Chrissy present together.

And finally 4 corner posts in the ground...  The start of my cabin..

Xander had his birthday whilst we were down at the farm so I had to give him some cake...

Christmas break 2014

I was so excited to be spending the next 3 weeks down at the farm.  Hooked up Eddie and off I went.
Once setup Xander was happy to be running around again.

1st Job was to build a small deck out of some cutoffs Scott had found at a clean up job. 1st step make sure I had enough - looking good.

Xander dissappeared and then i heard a yelp,  up the hill I went and what did i find.. Xander with his nose in an echidna..  silly boy..

Time for Dinner- lamb chops and a few spuds.. nice..

A few steps up the little embankment.

Hmmm... i think i bent more nails than I actually used.  The boards were hardwood and I didnt have a drill so it was hard work getting the nails in.

Next Job - Shower cubicle...  a bit rough, but it'll do... its not like anyone is going to see me.

Time for a drink on my new deck.

Xander was resting also.

And here we are all setup and ready for the boys to arrive.

Halloween 2014

Back down the farm for another glorious weekend and look what my driveway looked like.  It was a field full of beautiful purple wild flowers.. the picture doesn't do it justice (and i didn't bring my good camera with me,)

And the Dam was almost full and holding water..

Wildflowers everywhere.

And my shipping container arrived. fit perfectly on the spot Jamie had leveled for us.

Matilda fit perfectly beside the container.

Chops and Steak for dinner tonight on the fire.

Xander does the dishes for me.  he's such a good boy..

Sunset down the hill..

More of the wildflowers.

October long weekend 2014 - Dam!

Took an extra long weekend and lined up our Neighbors son to come and dig me a dam and level a spot for a shipping container at a later date.

Xander took up his usual spot by the fire once he'd inspected the area.

Time to start digging, Jamie leveled a nice spot with a great view ready for a Shipping container.
He's the quickest bobcat operator i've ever met.

And nice and shady in the afternoon.

Even put in a nice access path through the tea trees for me..

And then onto the Dam.  I didn't want a big one so Jamie made quick work of it.

After a hard day watching Jamie do the hard work, it was time to sit down and relax.

A beautiful evening by the fire.

The stars are amazing out here..

A misty morning the next morning and found lots of these beautiful spider webs.  no sign of the spiders that made them, but with the dew drops on them they looked amazing.

Xander found himself some old bones to chew on.  Kangaroo bones.

I saved the skull for the camp site.

This time I brought Eddie the Eagle down with Hilda the Hilux... (do you see a trend with the names) Eddie takes about 20 mins to setup but alot more room than Matilda and having Hilda meant I could drop into town without taking my home with me..

My firepit is well and truely established now complete with cooking platform and kettle.

LOL. we had an old letter box so I mounted it at the front gate.  the post man doesnt deliver out here, but at least it gives me something to tell visitors to look for.

We had a bit of a bog just past the gate so had to get some gravel delivered as well..

Time for a Drink now... another great day relaxing..

Cutting up some firewood

a nice roaring fire to sit around and keep warm.

Spent the afternoon at Rogers today (the Neighbour down the road, 84 years young and still running 2500 sheep on 4000 acres by himself..
He took me out to a spot on his property where there is a pocket of land in the middle of his that he doesnt own.  The guy that owned it built this cabin out of the trees on the property about 20 years ago.
Not bad, think i might steal this idea for my own cabin.

Complete with outdoor facilities..

A little bit of rain overnight and the dam already has some water in it.
After 5 days it was hard to head back to Mount Annan...
